"Person to Person - Satisfaction and Service are Our Business"
Just a bunch of hot air?
I am convinced that the United States is not immune from the
financial turmoil and the resulting civil unrest that we have seen
around the world. We cannot just simply keep printing money and paying
off our debts with less and less valuable dollars because of inflation.
Therefore civil unrest with the resulting interruptions of basic
services is inevitable.
We already own a small propane generator but they are expensive to
run for very long and it is air cooled so it is not meant to run for
weeks at a time. So I thought wind generation was a good
My wife and I took some time during spring break to look at
generating some of our own electrical power through wind turbine. You
may have seen some of these wind turbines around they look like an ultra
modern windmill. We even have a local vendor (in Norman) who has been
making these for years. http://www.bergey.com
The problem is that the cheapest way to install one of these wind
turbines is to feed it directly to the house and sell any surplus energy
back to the utility. The only problem with this scenario is that if and
when the power grid (local electric company) goes down so does the wind
turbine. The power company doesn't want power fed to the lines in an
emergency situation or it could shock the repair man so the wind turbine
automatically quits feeding the line.
My budget was between $10,000 & $20,000 but when you consider that in
order to install a wind turbine system that would run if the power is
off you also need batteries, inverters and much more so the price can
easily exceed $85,000 and still only power about ¼ of all of your needs.
As you can see at this point wind energy is very expensive per kilo
watt hour to generate. We scrapped the idea and are looking for a
larger water cooled generator.
Let's be prudent out there!

By the way, if you are wondering why the 'moo' in Calcmoolator? The answer is that since
the calculators were designed to help people save "Moo-la", the cash cow logo and service
name was developed revolving around a fun description for the word "Moo-la..." Spend some

I Love Lucy!
Yes, it was a hit TV Series from 1951 to 1957 and a favorite re-run for years after that... But now it's bound to be one of your favorite free services found on the web!
We have covered how difficult it is to find a way to contact companies these days, and
provided some places on the web to get those hard to find numbers. The next inevitable step
is still out there... being on hold forever while the one person who can answer my question
answers the 472 people in front of me!
Welcome to Lucy Phone! LucyPhone is a service for consumers that allows you to put the
company on hold while you are holding, and get a ring back when they finally get to you. They
can be found at http://www.lucyphone.com and are a
'must have' service that is priced just right: it's free!
Here's how it works: You enter the toll free number you are trying to call, or type in the
name of the company and Lucy will find it for you. Give Lucy the phone number you can be
reached at and let her connect you to the company number. Lucy calls you, then calls the
company and allows you to hit 'star, star' to disconnect while she stays on the line with
You are now free to go do whatever you like while Lucy stays on the line and listens to 45
minutes of hold music. When they answer... Lucy rings your phone and you are connected to
It's kind of fun to think I am putting some big company or call center on hold while they
think I am holding .. I just thought I'd pass on the fun. Give it a try.
